Q. What do the fees cover, are there any extra charges?
A. The fee you pay covers all daily living expenses including the provision of 24 hour care with the exception of additional items or services such as hairdresser, chiropodist, opticians and newspapers.
Q. Do you provide short term care?
A. Yes. Respite care is provided on a pre bookable basis. This is ideal for giving carers a break, recuperating following surgery or as a trial before deciding that you are happy to move into the home for long term care.
Q. How do I pay my fees?
A. Your first month is payable by cheque in advance, subsequent months are then paid for by standing order from your bank account, any sundries accrued are paid for monthly either by cheque or cash.
Q. What are the visiting hours?
A. Visiting is open but we do ask that you avoid mealtimes in order that the privacy and dignity of the resident concerned is respected.
Q. Can I bring items from home with me?
A. Your room is your new home, so please feel free to bring any furniture, pictures, photos or any personal possessions that will make you feel more comfortable and help you settle into your new home.
Q. Can I bring my pet into the home with me?
A. You can bring your pet with you following discussion with the proprietors prior to admission. Any cost involved for the care of the pet will be the responsibility of the resident.
Q. Will I have to leave Lordington Park if I need to be nursed in the future?
A. As long as your care needs and wishes for treatment can be met with input from the GP, District nurses and other professionals, there would be no need for you to leave Lordington Park.
Q. Can I keep my own Doctor?
A. If you live locally you will be able to keep your own Doctor as long as Lordington Park falls within the catchment area for your surgery, if not you will need to register with a Doctor in our area.
Q. Do I have to go to bed and get up at set times?
A. No, as part of your plan of care, your preferred times of retiring and rising will be discussed with you and recorded in your care plan so that staff are aware of you preferences. You do not have to be specific about your routine and may alter your wishes on a daily basis as you see fit.
Q. Will I be able to make and receive telephone calls?
A. There are telephone points in all the rooms. We can arrange for you to have a BT line installed giving you your own number, the cost must be met by the resident.
Q. How do I arrange for future supplies of my medication to be ordered?
A. We will order your medication for you, it will be delivered by the local pharmacy, you can be responsible for giving yourself your medication or the staff at Lordington Park will administer it for you.
